What happens when science meets the kitchen? In this hands-on Kitchen Science Lab, students will become food scientists as they mix, measure, experiment, and create edible recipes that demonstrate real scientific principles!
Through a series of fun, delicious experiments, students will explore concepts like chemical reactions, changes in matter, emulsions, fermentation, density, and more—all while making foods they can actually eat. We’ll investigate what happens when ingredients interact, why recipes work (or sometimes don’t!), and how a little science can transform ordinary kitchen ingredients into something delicious.
Students will have the opportunity to make, observe, taste, and experiment, developing kitchen confidence while practicing measurement, following procedures, observation, problem-solving, and scientific thinking.
